Deadly Attractions – 29th Daily Log

11 07 2008

21. TGT. I like this meditation

20. F. Who do I think I am? What do I think I am? I was told today that I don’t know enough about theology to be a heretic. I think my religion teachers might have agreed with that

19. F. I have felt a bit overwhelmed the past day  or so wondering whether I am getting anywhere. Someday I need to read back through this log to remind myself where I’ve been. I still need to recognize identities, attachments. There are more of you out there! Where are you hiding from me? Who AM I?

[Gap here. I got a little silly there but got lots of work done today. I didn't want to stop too long]

18. F. The recent posts are reminding of the valentine hearts candies

17. F. Nine-second vacation

16. F. Halt!

15. F. Cease all operations!

14. F. Stop that!

13. F. Pause that refreshes

12. F. NN. My own nothingness?

11. F. Pause for seriously digging into work again

10. F. NN

9. TGT. Makes for a very pleasant pause

8. F. Stopping right before the 7:00 PaB session

7. F. Nice pause while working intensly

6. TGT. Smiling

5. F. NN

4. F. I have been in PaB over month now. PaB has been in existence a little over three months.

3. F. Right now I am in a state of mild confusion. I have heard and read some of the same things over and over again and I can;t seem to fit them together correctly. I like to create an infrastructure, an outline….I just closed my eyes to think and I was momentarily in a space bathed in blue light coming from a hidden source above…then it vanished

2. TGT. Smiling

1. TGT (Thinking Good Thought) – Trying out this other form of meditation of thinking about something that will make you smile. How does it work in the 9 second stop?

* * * * * *

It is another beautiful day and I am wondering what I will be learning today. I didn’t get a chance to try the “crying baby” tool yet either because I had no attractions yesterday or I didn’t recognize them (I hope that is not snickering…my ears are burning as I write that). A couple of days ago I mentioned the seven deadly sins (pride, envy, wrath, sloth, avarice, gluttony and lust) almost in a stream of consciousness after a short list of attractions. It is clear that at least six of them are attractions. Gluttony seems a little more complicated but the desire to eat beyonds one needs is an attraction. Of course there is the physical side to it. I find it somewhat amusing that in my country lust is moved from number seven to number one, probably even above the ten commandments. Certainly violence on television is more acceptable than sex on TV to the policy makers. Also that pride (in the country, flag) has moved from a sin to a virtue. Well society has moved on from medieval times, hasn’t it.
